Sardinia
The existing land
About the place
Rafael is the Spanish nobleman who in the early 1960s fell in love with Gallura's rocks and here decided to found the small village that today bears his name — where even now no hotel or large condominium exists, but only the exclusivity of private villas surrounded by 150 hectares of Mediterranean scrub.
Immersed in the extraordinary nature of northern Sardinia, Porto Rafael faces the stunning Maddalena archipelago — a labyrinth of islands, islets, and crystal-clear waters protected as a National Park. The village has preserved its character: intimate, authentic, free.
People say Porto Rafael was born after a dream — a longing for Neverland, a happy place that shouldn't exist in real life. Yet here it is: the Existing Island.
